GORE-TEXᆴ Performance Shell
One garment, many activities
Whether youre skiing, cycling, mountaineering, in-line skating or just walking, you can change the sport but you never need to change your garment with GORE-TEXᆴ Performance Shell.
Key advantages
- Provides breathable comfort and durably waterproof protection
- Designed for a wide range of outdoor activities
- Available in 2- and 3-layer constructions. 2 layers are supple and quiet; 3 layers are are for extra-rugged use.
Construction
- Combination of soft and high-performance face textiles, membranes and special lining
- 2-layer construction: a specific GORE-TEXᆴ membrane is bonded to the outer material and protected on the inside by a separate lining
- 3-layer construction: a specific GORE-TEXᆴ membrane is bonded to an outer material and an inner lining
- Unique GORE-TEXᆴ liners are especially attractive for fashion applications when more design freedom is required
- Special GORE-SEAMᆴ tape technology ensures all seams are 100% waterproof
GORE-TEXᆴ PACLITEᆴ
Gores advanced processing techniques used to apply the oleophobic substance and to integrate the carbon allow the membrane to retain adequate durability. No separate lining is required which means that GORE-TEXᆴ PACLITEᆴ clothing is lighter and smaller to pack away than products made of 2-layer or 3-layer laminates.

What's the difference between Coolmaxᆴ fabrics and other polyester fabrics?
WINDSTOPPERᆴ ePTFE
Using the same technology that created the revolutionary GORE-TEXᆴ membrane, W.L. Gore developed an ultra-lightweight WINDSTOPPERᆴ ePTFE membrane designed specifically to be used in conjunction with fleece. Proven to be twice as warm as standard fleece in cold wind, WINDSTOPPERᆴ fleece stops the wind completely yet still allows body vapour to escape. Most other windproof fleeces are only marginally breathable. WINDSTOPPERᆴ fleece maintains its original windproofness after extended use and washing.

This softness achieved in the manufacture of PrimaLoftᆴ makes it very comfortable to wear and increases mobility by reducing friction of movement.
Coolmaxᆴ
Coolmaxᆴ fabrics are specially designed to provide not only superior moisture management, but also to enhance the wearer's comfort. The specially-engineered fibers using Coolmaxᆴ fabrics provide enhanced breathability (called "air permeability" by the techies) that differentiate Coolmaxᆴ from generic polyester fabrics, which use standard round fibers. Air permeability is just one of our key performance tests that fabrics must pass before they can be sold as "Coolmaxᆴ". And, remember, that all of the benefits of Coolmaxᆴ fabrics are permanently built right into the fiber, requiring no chemical treatments like those other wicking fabrics.
Can Coolmaxᆴ be worn year-round?
Yes. In cold weather, Coolmaxᆴ is a great first layer, especially during high aerobic activities. It's superior moisture management will keep the bone-chilling perspiration away from your skin and move it to the outer layers for evaporation. Remember, you can't stay warm if your body's wet!
